Springfield, MA
FIRST FRUITS
In Springfield, MA, B’Yachad Hebrew School teens and The Color Collaborative came together to eliven community gardens with a dynamic mural, showcasing a fusion of tradition and modern mural design.
THE INSPIRATION
Celebrating Shavuot through Art
Rooted in the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, the murals celebrate the spring season's first harvest. We guided teens in crafting Matisse-inspired collages, combining the essence of Henri Matisse's paper cut murals with the spirit of Shavuot.
COMMUNITY PAINT PARTY
From Collages to Community Canvas
Taking inspiration from Matisse, designs were transformed into a paint-by-number format. Our budding mural artists then brought these designs to life, culminating in a grand mural reveal attended by over 100 community members and complemented by the First Fruits Festival.
PROJECT PARTNERS
Collaboration at Its Best
A heartfelt thank you to our partners: Sinai Temple, Mass Cultural Council, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Their support was instrumental in converting our vision into a public art masterpiece.
